Parr Acquires Suburban Door Company

The Parr Company is pleased to announce the acquisition of Suburban Door Company, Inc., based in Tualatin, Oregon. Suburban Door is a supplier of pre-hung interior and exterior doors, windows, millwork, stair parts, and finish trim products. They operate two facilities in Oregon, one in Tualatin and one in Redmond, both servicing the professional contractor.

In 2020, The Parr Company’s Executive Team identified a Three-Year Strategy with guidance from the Board of Directors. A key initiative was to expand into the manufacturing of doors and millwork. “This addition will provide yet another service The Parr Company can offer to our customers, with the intent to provide all building products and services under one roof,” said Mike Howell, CEO of The Parr Company.

Suburban Door was founded in 1971 by David Silvey, Lee Ohanesian, and Ed Drawz. By the late 1980s, Lee Ohanesian and Ed Drawz had moved on, leaving the company to David Silvey. Proudly serving Oregon and Washington for 50 years, Suburban Door has built a reputation of integrity, excellent customer service, employee engagement, and high-quality products. It’s a formula that leads to longevity — many customers and employees have been with the company 20 – 30 years.

“The success of Suburban door is due to three things,” said David Silvey, President of Suburban Door. “First, the relationships we have created with our customers. We have been privileged to provide products to thousands of customers over the past 50 years. Second, are the relationships we have developed with our vendors. Our vendors are partners; they have helped us get creative, innovative, and flexible with our products. And last but not least, are our employees and their loyalty. Our employees are the heart and soul of Suburban Door. Without their dedication and loyalty, we would not be able to provide our customers with the quality products and services we strive so hard to supply. We are lucky to have employees who have worked with us for almost their entire adult lives. This new acquisition allows us to be able to continue and expand while maintaining this family atmosphere.”
